Jung Chung-rae, a candidate in the Democratic Party of Korea’s leadership election, targeted Kim Min-seok on the 4th, stating, “If you cannot clarify the basis for raising the Shincheonji allegations, apologize first.”

On his Facebook page that day, Jung said, “How long will you continue to drive the party to ruin and remain indifferent? Do not act irresponsibly by remaining silent—apologize immediately.”

Jung’s camp announced in a statement that day, “We have taken legal action against media outlets, YouTube channels, and others who reported or spread false information with the intent to influence the party’s primary election, citing allegations related to a specific religion and individuals. The charges include publication of false information, defamation through false statements, and false accusation.”

Jung’s camp added, “The claim of a secret alliance between anti-name, factionalism, and Shincheonji is a clear violation, and we have repeatedly stated that if no evidence is found, those responsible must face severe disciplinary action.”

Jung also remarked that day, “An organization cannot overcome the wind,” adding, “Just as Roh Moo-hyun’s wind overcame Lee In-je’s organization, let Jung Chung-rae’s wind defeat Kim Min-seok’s organization.
