Justice and Constitutional Development Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi has praised a whistleblower for saving her colleagues life.
Kubayi said that the whistleblower alerted her to an alleged plot to kill a senior official in her department.
The official reportedly became a target after refusing to sign off on questionable contracts.
Kubayi said that she immediately contacted law enforcement agencies who moved swiftly to assess the threat.
Kubayi said that law enforcers have since implemented measures to protect the official and her family.
The minster commended the official for standing their ground in the face of alleged corruption.
Kubayi said that the incident is a reminder that corruption has real victims and that public servants of integrity play a key role in protecting the public interest.
She also thanked the whistleblower for their courage saying their actions may have saved lives.
The matter is under investigation.
