Justices Pass on Corrections Officer's FMLA Interference Dispute - Bloomberg Law

The US Supreme Court declined to clarify whether an employer can violate the Family and Medical Leave Act without outright denying an employee’s rights or benefits under the law.

The justices on Tuesday rejected a request from officials at the Cook County Sheriff’s Office in Chicago to review a US Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit June decision that retired correctional officer Salvatore Ziccarelli can state an FMLA claim by only showing that his former employer had discouraged him from taking protected leave.
