Kaleo to Pay $12.7 Million to Settle False Claims Allegations - Bloomberg Law

Kaleo Inc. agreed to pay $12.7 million to resolve allegations that the Virginia-based pharmaceutical manufacturer caused the submission of false claims for the drug Evzio, an injectable form of naloxone hydrochloride used to reverse opioid overdoses, according to a Justice Department news release.

The Justice Department alleges that between March 14, 2017, and April 30, 2020, the company directed prescribing doctors to send Evzio prescriptions to certain preferred pharmacies that in turn submitted false prior authorization requests for the drug.
