Kansas woman pleads guilty after claiming spouse accessed bank account from the International Space Station - KMBC

WICHITA, Kan. —

A Kansas woman pleaded guilty last week to lying to federal investigators after falsely claiming her estranged spouse accessed her bank account from the International Space Station.

Summer Heather Worden, 50, of Sedgwick County, admitted she misled authorities in 2019 when she alleged her spouse guessed her password and illegally entered her account while deployed aboard the ISS.

Investigators later found Worden had opened the account in 2018 and that both had used it until she changed the login credentials in January 2019.

According to prosecutors, Worden had shared bank login information with her spouse since at least 2015.

U.S. District Judge Alfred Bennett accepted the plea last Thursday.

Worden faces up to five years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine at her Feb. 12, 2026, sentencing.

She remains free on bond.
