Kash Patel’s girlfriend, Alexis Wilkins, has rejected a report that claimed she was holding another man’s hand during the chaos that ensued after the shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. Beyond dismissing the claims, Wilkins also praised Patel for keeping her safe during the incident.
Speaking with The Daily Mail, Wilkins said, “I was only ever holding Kash’s hand; anything to suggest otherwise is false.” Wilkins also criticized The New York Times live blog entry that originally reported the claim.
New York Times White House correspondent Shawn McCreesh wrote in the publication's live blog, approximately 44 minutes after the shots were fired. The correspondent wrote that "pandemonium reigned as top cabinet officials were evacuated."

McCreesh, who was reporting as part of the White House press pool, added, “Robert Kennedy Jr. and his wife, Cheryl Hines, came out and were ushered into an elevator. Then Jeanine Pirro emerged. Patel, came tearing across the hallway with two men in tow; his girlfriend was hiding in a room with another man who was holding her hand.” The reporter also mentioned that he was “in a hall just outside the ballroom when the commotion first rang out.”
However, the publication updated the post for “additional context” and clarified that Wilkins was “in a nearby room with a man who appeared to be a member of a security detail and who was holding her hand.”
