Ken Paxton whistleblower David Maxwell has endorsed Democratic U.S. Senate nominee James Talarico in a new campaign ad. Maxwell, a former Texas Ranger and the attorney general's top law enforcement official, says Paxton ended his five decade career after he blew the whistle on corruption. Maxwell was one of eight top aides who reported Paxton to law enforcement in 2020, and he testified against Paxton in the Senate's impeachment trial in 2023. A civil judge in Travis county later awarded Maxwell and other whistleblowers $6.7 million in lost wages, emotional pain and attorney's fees.
