The Kerala General Education Minister’s office has lodged a complaint with the state police chief against social media channels allegedly spreading misleading claims about Onam school examination question papers.
The complaint was submitted by the minister’s private secretary, seeking immediate action against channels making such claims, the minister’s office said in a statement on Sunday.
Several teachers and educational channels conduct classes for students through platforms such as Instagram and YouTube. However, the minister’s office said some channels were allegedly using these platforms to circulate misleading information about the examinations.

Some videos and posts reportedly claim that they will provide the Onam exam question paper, that only the questions mentioned by them will appear in the exam, or that a particular paper is the model question paper for the following day.
Students are also being told that they only need to study the questions being promoted by these channels, the statement said.
According to the statement, such claims can create false expectations among students and lead to misconceptions about the examinations.
The minister’s office also said these claims could encourage students to depend on questions allegedly available just before the examination instead of preparing properly.
