KFTC Sanctions Companies Over False Down, Cashmere Claims - 조선일보

E-Land World and 17 other clothing companies faced sanctions from the Korea Fair Trade Commission (KFTC) after labeling underfilled padding products as ‘goose down’, goose feathers or falsely stating cashmere content.

On the 15th, the KFTC announced corrective orders, future prohibition orders, or warning measures against 17 online clothing retailers found to have made false or exaggerated advertisements regarding the down or cashmere content in winter clothing products' fillers.

According to the KFTC, these companies are accused of promoting products that do not meet quality standards as goose down, falsely advertising or exaggerating that they used only goose feathers even when feathers from other birds were mixed, in violation of the Act on Fair Labeling and Advertising.

Generally, a product must contain at least 80% goose feathers and 75% down to be labeled as goose down. However, E-Land World advertised underfilled padding as goose down, while Volante J, Doklipmun, and Archive Co. were found to have marketed products mixed with duck feathers as goose feather products.

Additionally, duck feather padding can only be labeled as down products if the down content is at least 75%. However, Attentionrow, Polaris Universal, First FNC, Slam, T Green, Tcloud, J.C Co., LTD, and Fashion Link were found to have advertised products that did not meet this standard as ‘duck down’ or ‘down’.
