Kian Bunney in court in Cornwall over false statements - Falmouth Packet

A Redruth man who made false statements in order to obtain insurance in Truro has been fined and given eight points on his license after appearing in court earlier this week.

Kian Bunney, 21, of Mount Carbis Gardens in Redruth, appeared in front of magistrates at Truro Magistrates Court on Tuesday, February 8, 2022.

Bunney had been charged with making a false statement to obtain insurance back in July of 2021 after he had claimed he was older than he actually was and that he had held a licence for longer than he actually had, as well as also claiming he had not been involved in any previous collisions or claims, when in fact he had.

Bunney indicated a plea of guilty for the offence.

He was fined 384 and made to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of 38 as well as pay costs of 85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

Bunney also pleaded guilty to using a motor vehicle on a road or public place without third-party insurance and had his driving record endorsed with eight points.

No other separate penalty was given and it was noted that Bunney's guilty pleas had been taken into account when imposing the sentence.
