Singer and actor Kim Min-jong filed a criminal complaint against MC Mong (real name Shin Dong-hyun) for defamation due to the spread of false information.
Kim Min-jong’s legal representative, Law Firm O’KIMS (Oh Seong-heon, attorney at law), announced on September 1, 2026, that they submitted a complaint to Jongno Police Station in Seoul, accusing MC Mong of violating the Information and Communications Network Act (defamation).
MC Mong made claims during an internet live broadcast on May 18 that Kim Min-jong was involved in illegal gambling, receipt of money or goods, and witness tampering. After these claims spread through media and online platforms, Kim Min-jong’s side issued an official statement on May 19 stating that the allegations were entirely untrue.
Kim Min-jong’s team revealed that the spread of these claims not only severely damaged his reputation and trust built over approximately 38 years since his 1988 debut but also caused tangible harm, including the suspension of discussions for his upcoming Hollywood project and two advertising contracts.
