KZN corruption | Whistleblower flagged school nutrition scandal in 2019 - MSN

Orlando Pirates threw a subtle dig at their Soweto rivals, Kaizer Chiefs, on social media ahead of the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season, which kicks off on the weekend of 9 August.

A Kaizer Chiefs official tries to access the electronic gate but is stopped by a security guard pointing to a sign that reads “MTN 8,” indicating only the Top 8 teams are allowed entry, highlighting Amakhosi’s failure to finish in the Top 8 last season.

"Lol, Chiefs on broken bicycles, wanting to enter MTN 8 with Nedbank medals but Ngobese telling them it's played by only the best Top 8 teams. Rick Ross is not wearing Down's tees. Pirates are telling us about the Spain weather. Lol, what else did I miss?"

Both clubs have been active during the pre-season preparations, with Amakhosi embarking on a tour of the Netherlands, while the Buccaneers headed to Spain for their training camp. These overseas tours have allowed both teams to fine-tune their squads and build momentum ahead of the highly anticipated 2025/26 Betway Premiership season.

They narrowly lost 2-1 to Vitesse in their opening match, with Reeve Frosler, who recently returned from injury, scoring the Glamour Boys' only goal. This was followed by a heavy 4-0 loss to Utrecht.

In their final match, Nasreddine Nabi’s side fell to NEC Nijmegen, marking three successive defeats. The club’s fans are growing increasingly frustrated, as there appears to be little improvement in the team’s performance.
