Utah-based L3 Technologies Inc., Communication Systems West, has agreed to pay $21.8 million to resolve alleged violations of the False Claims Act, according to the Department of Justice on Monday.
The manufacturer of military systems communications equipment allegedly submitted false claims to the Department of Defense by including the cost of certain parts twice in contract proposals.
Between 2008 and 2011, the DoD accepted proposals by the company for the Remote Operations Video Enhanced Receiver and Video Oriented Transceiver for Exchange Information. Common-stock items, including nuts and bolts, were double-charged, the Department said.
