Labor and employment law joint symposium taking place March 28 - San Diego Community Newspaper Group

California Western Law Review and International Law Journal announced that tickets are now available for its joint symposium, How Labor and Employment Laws Work in Today’s Global Economy, on March 28, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., followed by a networking reception from 5 to 7 p.m.

With globalization reshaping the workforce and regulatory landscapes, the Symposium’s focus will helpfoster informed dialogue and advancing legal scholarship. The symposium will offer Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credits, meeting a high demand among local attorneys.

This event will address pressing topics in labor and employment law, including:

Labor in Pop Culture – Keynote speaker, Sarah Fowler, Deputy Counsel for SAG-AFTRA, the largest union representing entertainment professionals, will discuss the intersection of labor and entertainment law and its prevalence in everyday media, the rise of influencers as a new wave of pop culture icons, and how she and her team navigated the massive industry strikes of 2023.

Artificial Intelligence and New Technologies Shifting Protocols – Panelists will discuss the dangers and uncertainty of AI including discrimination in AI hiring algorithms, surveillance and data collection, and potential to create errors/biases in performance evaluation/decision-making.
