Multiple states are considering laws that would allow workers to sue employers for labor violations on behalf of the government—an arrangement that is currently only legal in California. But a U.S. Supreme Court case, which will decide whether California employers can use arbitration agreements to ban these claims if they’re brought on behalf of a class of employees, could slow that momentum.
