A labour dispute lodged by a senior City of Johannesburg official, who was fired after blowing the whistle on irregularities and possible corruption to the tune of R8.2 billion, will be referred for arbitration.
This as the conciliation process at the SA Local Government Bargaining Council on Wednesday between the City and former director of finance in the department of public safety Sarika Lakraj-Naidoo went unresolved.
Lakraj-Naidoo was dismissed on 15 June 2023 on charges of gross misconduct, gross dishonesty, harassment, intimidation and bullying.
At least four red-flagged officials testified against her, including former facilities manager Gift Zondo who allegedly helped facilitate irregularities in the establishment of the City's Integrated Intelligence Operation Centre, News24 reported previously.
He accused Lakraj-Naidoo of being disrespectful when she turned him away for a meeting as she was busy.
