LABUAN, May 6 (Bernama) -- More than 30 representatives from various sectors, mainly from the maritime and logistics industries, attended a Labour Symposium Programme 2026 with the Department of Labour Peninsular Malaysia (JTKSM) Labuan here today.
The half-day talk at Megah Port Management Sdn Bhd’s premises, was conducted by JTKSM Labuan assistant director Noribnas Herman and marked the first time the port operator hosted such an employment-related awareness programme.
Megah Port in a statement said the programme was aimed at strengthening awareness among employers and employees on their respective rights, roles and obligations under the country’s employment laws.
The session provided a useful platform for industry players, particularly those in the maritime and logistics sectors, to better understand matters related to employment practices, workplace responsibilities and compliance with the Employment Act.
“The programme provided participants with clearer understanding on various employment-related matters involving both employees and employers, including terms of employment, working hours, leave entitlement, wage matters and proper employment procedures,” it said
JTKSM Labuan also welcomed human resources personnel from any company in Labuan to approach the department for advice and clarification on employment-related matters.
