LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - The City of Laredo and its Utilities Department said false information is circulating on social media about human remains being found in the water system.

The city on Thursday, Aug. 20, said the claim is completely false. No human remains have been found in the city’s water pipelines, according to the city.

The city said it has not issued any directive advising residents to stop using their water in response to such an incident.

The city said it takes water quality and the safety of the community extremely seriously. Any significant issue affecting the city’s water system would be communicated directly to residents through official city channels, according to the city.

The city is encouraging residents to rely on verified information from the City of Laredo and not share unverified claims circulating on social media.
