Jet pilots who worked for Las Vegas Sands Corp. and Sands Aviation LLC ferrying executives and their families from place to place fall under an exemption to federal overtime pay requirements, dooming their wage-and-hour allegations.
Five pilots say they’re owed payment for the time they spent waiting for flight assignments. But the salaried pilots, who made at least $125,000 per year through their work for the casino company, were exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act’s overtime provisions as highly compensated employees, the US District Court for the District of Nevada said.
