The end of this season has been a pretty eventful one for ESPN’s Laura Rutledge.
One month removed from the star “NFL Live” host and “Monday Night Football” correspondent almost being snubbed by Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert, some felt Sam Darnold attempted to do the same after last night’s win.
Seattle was able to clinch the NFC’s top seed with Saturday’s 13-3 win over the Niners at Levi’s Stadium, where Darnold completed 20-of-26 passes for 198 yards in the low-scoring affair.
But after video surfaced of him walking by Rutledge in the postgame scrum, some assumed he wanted nothing to do with the Worldwide Leader‘s top sideline reporter — something that she attempted to clear up online shortly after.

The clip of Darnold seemingly ignoring Rutledge quickly went viral following the whole Justin Herbert situation. But Rutledge made sure to let fans know that the interaction with same was nothing to worry about.
“Nope. Actually we had a lot of time till we had to go off air so I told Darnold he had plenty of time to talk to whoever he wanted to see. Thanks!” Rutledge replied to a concerned viewer.
She also took some time to dispel some of the more nefarious posts making it out to be something that it wasn’t.
