However, his agency strongly refuted the claims as “dissemination of false information” and warned of legal action, marking a new phase in the dispute.
On the 20th, Lee’s agency, Sangyeong E&T, released an official statement: “The content recently circulated on online communities and SNS is entirely untrue. We are preparing legal measures against damages caused by false information and malicious rumors.”
The controversial exposé began when a netizen posted screenshots of allegedly “conversations with Lee Yi-kyung,” including high-severity messages. Though the post was deleted, screenshots spread rapidly across communities and SNS, fueling the controversy.
Regarding this, the agency revealed that the poster had previously engaged in similar behavior. A source from the company explained, “The poster had sent a patched-together version of the same content to the company’s email several months ago, demanding money. At the time, they admitted the falsehoods and even sent an apology email, but recently reposted the same fabricated claims online.” Authorities suspect the poster resides overseas, increasing the likelihood of intentional false accusations.
This has shifted the controversy from mere rumors to potential “malicious blackmail” or “repeated false information dissemination.”
