Legal community mourning Judge Amanda Coulthard’s passing - qlsproctor.com.au

The Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia and Queensland legal community are mourning the loss of Her Honour Judge Amanda Coulthard.

Federal Attorney-General Michelle Rowland offered her sympathies to Judge Coulthard’s family, friends and colleagues.

“I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of her Honour Judge Amanda Coulthard,” Ms Rowland said in a social media post today.

“Appointed to the Brisbane Registry of the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia in August 2024, Judge Coulthard was known for her warmth, collegiality, dedication and unwavering commitment to the law.

“Throughout her distinguished career, she made a significant contribution to public service and the administration of justice. Her work helped strengthen Australia’s legal system and improve the lives of countless Australians.

“My deepest sympathies are with Judge Coulthard’s family, friends and colleagues at this difficult time. May she rest in peace.”

Her Honour held a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Queensland and a Masters of Law from Bond University. She was admitted to practice as a solicitor in 1982, practising as Special Counsel specialising in workplace relations and employment law.

In 2010, she was called to the bar, where she practised across workplace relations and employment law. She has also held the position of Associate Professor at the Bond University Faculty of Law.
