Are you as bright as a middle schooler? Kudos to Iran Garcia.

I spent a number of years on a suburban school district’s improvement committee. Each year at budget time, the various departments in the system would make presentations. Every year the most interesting presentation was made by the head of the industrial arts area, after which that budget was sliced to provide more funding for the newest tech undertaking. How unfortunate.

There are many career paths that provide excellent income potential and possibilities for personal satisfaction to those who do not mind getting their hands dirty at work. We need to support these paths.

It is fitting that the ones who have no air conditioning today and are furious that someone won’t show up until next week to have a look are the same ones who pushed their children into a four-year college so they could get a supposedly better job.

Not much work gets done in the chrome and glass palaces when the power is out or the toilets are clogged.
