I'm no longer surprised that Ken Paxton's ongoing avoidance of justice is facilitated by a Republican judicial system but I was troubled that the two highest-ranking members of Texas government would support him by submitting friend of court briefs, in essence agreeing with Paxton that the state's whistleblower law does not apply to him because he is an elected official.
My understanding of whistleblower definition is a person who reveals information about activities that are illegal, immoral, or fraudulent abuse of authority.
By having their offices submit these briefs, Greg Abbott and Dan Patrick are supporting Paxton's claim and asking the Texas Supreme Court to take up the appeal and probably throw out the whistleblower lawsuit.
I would like to ask Abbott and Patrick how they explain to their children, grandchildren and spouses that it is OK to commit illegal and fraudulent abuse of authority if you are an elected official.
