Jackson County Library District officials have voted to formally investigate recent incidents at the Talent library in which a man was witnessed by patrons viewing videos of naked children on three separate days in December.
Board members also voted Wednesday on motions to consult with an HR firm and an employment law attorney to address district internal personnel matters.
Four motions were approved unanimously by the five-member board during a nearly three-hour meeting Wednesday, which followed a two-and-a-half-hour meeting Monday. Most of the Wednesday meeting was convened into executive session, which was closed to the public, but members reconvened into open session at the end for the board to approve the motions.
The meeting comes on the heels of the Monday meeting that provided an open forum for community members and library district employees to give input on district operations and also included a closed portion of the meeting that yielded a board decision made in open session to place Library Director Kari May on two weeks paid administrative leave, effective through Jan. 21, to “gather additional information.”
