Ryan Kennedy, the Lions fan involved in an altercation with Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf, denies using a racial slur directed at the NFL player.
Last week, Metcalf walked over to Kennedy in the stands and appeared to throw a punch at the fan.
Kennedy claims that he called DK by his government name “Dekaylin”, but Chad Ochocinco says that Metcalf is alleging that the fan used a racial slur.
On Friday, Kennedy held a press conference with his lawyer Ryan Head, where he denied using any racial slurs towards Metcalf during the altercation.
“I want to be crystal clear about one thing — I didn’t use any racial slurs, no hate speech, none of that stuff at the game.”
Kennedy’s lawyer says they are considering pursuing legal action against Metcalf until he retracts his “false accusations.”
“Being falsely branded as a racist is one of the most damaging accusations that a private citizen can endure. It’s dangerous and causes very real consequences and very real damage.”
“The goal here is accountability and to correct the record,” Head said. “The false accusations or racial statements, or racial slurs being used causes real damage and that needs to be corrected. … (Metcalf) can come out and tell the truth and indicate that he never heard any racial slur uttered by Mr. Kennedy.”
