Lithuania reacted sharply to Moscow’s statements about an alleged attack on President Vladimir Putin’s residence, made on December 29. Vilnius called these words an operation under a foreign flag, aimed at justifying possible strikes against Ukraine.
The Lithuanian Foreign Ministry stressed that such statements serve as cover for aggression and provide a pretext for further escalation of the conflict.

On the eve of this, Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov accused Ukraine of an attack on Putin’s residence in Valday. He claimed that on the night of December 29 Kyiv allegedly launched 91 drones at the state residence of Putin, but all drones were destroyed.
Lavrov stated that because of the attack Moscow would revise its stance in negotiations, “taking into account the Kyiv regime’s final shift toward state terrorism.” Russia also identified targets for strikes in response and the timing of their strikes, the minister said.
