Today, the U.S. Supreme Court deferred the application for an immediate administrative stay that had been submitted by the Trump administration in its continuing effort to keep Federal Reserve Governor Dr. Lisa D. Cook out of her position following a district court decision that had reinstated her. President Trump purported to remove her from office for “cause” in late August. The D.C. Circuit had already denied the administration’s motion to stay the district court order.

The High Court stated that it will consider the matter in oral argument in January 2026. It has directed the Clerk to establish a briefing schedule for amici curiae and any supplemental briefs responding to amici.
