As major employers continue to conduct sweeping job cuts in 2026, a recent survey found that long-service staff are the “least prepared” for layoffs.
In April, Careerminds spoke to approximately 900 workers who’d been laid off after at least 5 years of continuous service at their company.
“These employees arrive [on the job market] with dormant [professional] networks, out-of-date résumés, and [little to no] experience in job hunting,” a release on the findings reads.
Only 13.8% of respondents said they had a résumé that was ready to send out to help them find comparable employment.
