Longmont police Detective Josh Burke was awarded the Beth Haynes Memorial Award, which is presented by the Boulder County District Attorney’s Office to a member of law enforcement for their work in addressing domestic violence.
The nominees are nominated and voted on by their law enforcement peers on the criteria of history of service to victims, knowledge of the dynamics of domestic violence and proper investigative techniques, guidance provided to fellow officers on domestic violence issues and cases, and networking and problem solving around domestic violence issues with other agencies.
Burke and the other nominees were honored at a ceremony on Oct. 28 at the end of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Nominees included members of the Boulder Police Department, Lafayette Police Department, Longmont Police Department and Boulder County Sheriff’s Office.
“This ceremony is a special opportunity to remember Officer Beth Haynes, honor her sacrifice, and recognize outstanding work by law enforcement officers on behalf of victims of domestic violence,” Boulder County District Attorney Michael Dougherty said.
