Louisiana’s health department didn’t violate a doctor’s constitutional rights by ending his Medicaid provider agreement after a federal grand jury indicted him for health-care fraud, a federal court said.
The doctor, Shiva Akula, had no property or liberty interest in his status as a Medicaid provider that was protected by the 14th Amendment’s due process clause, the US District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana said. The court dismissed Akula’s complaint.
