JOHOR BARU: A company managing director and an engineer have been arrested for allegedly making false claims worth RM250,000 for the construction of a temporary bridge in Segamat.
According to a Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) source, the two suspects, aged 41 and 52, were arrested at about 7pm on Sunday (Jan 9) at the MACC office here.
The source added that between 2016 and 2020, the duo allegedly conspired to submit false claims for the construction of a RM4mil temporary bridge to a government department in Segamat.
However, the source added, the actual work was not carried out.
State MACC director Datuk Azmi Alias confirmed the arrest, adding that the case was being investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009.
It is learnt the suspects would be taken to a Magistrate's Court here on Monday (Jan 10) for a remand order application.
