MACC busts syndicate linked with false claims involving RM9m, arrests 73 nationwide - The Edge Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR (June 11): The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has uncovered a syndicate involved in falsifying claims for the Daya Kerjaya 2.0 incentive involving approximately RM9 million, following the remand of 73 individuals nationwide except in Perlis last Tuesday.

All the suspects arrested comprised 48 men and 25 women, aged between their 20s and 70s, who acted as agents and company owners.

According to sources, the arrests were made through a large-scale integrated operation conducted by the commission's intelligence and investigation divisions, as well as state MACC branches in collaboration with the Social Security Organisation (Socso).

"Initial investigations revealed that all suspects are believed to have committed the offences between 2024 and 2025.

"They are believed to have made false claims involving government employment assistance of RM1,500 per month for six months for each employee hired by private sector employers and government-linked companies (GLCs)," the source told Bernama here on Thursday.

Sources also informed that all suspects were detained at state MACC offices in an operation that also involved raids at 90 locations involving company premises.

"Intelligence work conducted since November last year targeted 143 company premises nationwide, with 320 individuals linked to the claims. Overall, a total of 83 individuals — comprising six agents and 77 company owners — have been arrested throughout the operation," the source said.
