MACC detains 73 nationwide over alleged RM9mil Daya Kerjaya claims fraud [WATCH] - NST Online

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has remanded 73 people, including agents and company owners, over alleged fraudulent claims totalling about RM9 million under the Daya Kerjaya 2.0 employment incentive programme.

Sources said the suspects, comprising 48 men and 25 women aged between their 20s and 70s, were detained on Tuesday at MACC offices nationwide, except in Perlis.

Initial investigations found the offences were allegedly committed between 2024 and 2025.

The suspects are believed to have submitted false claims for government wage incentives of RM1,500 per month for six months for each employee hired by private sector employers and government-linked companies (GLCs).

On June 9, the MACC, through its Intelligence Division, Investigation Division and state offices, carried out a nationwide integrated operation in collaboration with the Social Security Organisation (Perkeso).

The operation involved raids at 90 locations nationwide, including company premises, resulting in the arrest of 83 people comprising six agents and 77 company owners.

Sources said intelligence gathered since November last year had identified 143 company premises and 320 people allegedly linked to the fraudulent claims.

During the operation, MACC officers recorded 104 statements involving 32 suspects and 72 witnesses.

Authorities also froze 25 company bank accounts containing about RM390,000 as part of the investigation.
