MACC nabs architect over false claims worth RM3mil - The Star Online

PUTRAJAYA: Graft investigators have arrested an architect for submitting false claims amounting to RM3mil involving a development project in the East Coast.

The suspect is in his 40s and was detained following the arrest of four individuals in connection with the same case in June.

On June 16, four people including a manager with a government-linked company were arrested; all are believed to have been working together to make false claims for a development project.

The suspect was held when he was summoned to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission headquarters around 6pm on Friday.

Sources said the suspect was among the individuals allegedly involved in submitting false claims for a project with the total amount of RM300mil.

"Despite submitting the claims, no work was done," said a source on Saturday (Aug 20).

The suspect has been remanded for four days until Aug 23 after Magistrate Irza Zulaikha Rohanuddin allowed an application submitted by the MACC.

MACC senior director of investigation Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Hashim confirmed the arrest.
