KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission has detained a company manager for allegedly making false claims valued at about RM180,000 from a federal government agency.
A source said the man, in his 50s, was arrested at 12.45pm today when giving his statement at the Bintulu, Sarawak branch of the MACC.
The source said the suspect allegedly made the false claims at a Bintulu branch of a government agency, and that it was related to a programme involving three separate areas last year. However, no delivery was made in regards to what was being claimed.
"The suspect will be brought to the Bintulu magistrate's court at 9am tomorrow for remand order application."
Meanwhile, Sarawak MACC director Mohd Zaki Hassan confirmed the arrest of the company manager.
In a statement, he said the case was being investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009.
