KUALA LUMPUR: The Selangor Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has arrested an officer with a local university over a probe involving false claims totaling RM330,000.
The 40-year-old woman was alleged to have filed the fraudulent claims for an educational project between 2018 and 2022.
She was arrested around 4pm today after having her statement recorded at the Selangor MACC office.
It is understood that her staff had no knowledge of the supposed project as well as the claims she had filed.
Meanwhile, Selangor MACC chief, Datuk Alias Salim, when contacted, confirmed the arrest and said the case is being probed under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009.
He said the suspect will be brought to the Shah Alam Magistrate's Court tomorrow morning for a remand application.
