Macon County election supervisor, four others, charged with health-fraud conspiracy - 13WMAZ

The indictment says Tarshea Fudge-Riley and others filed false statements saying they got therapy. Then the therapist allegedly filed false claims for payment.

MACON COUNTY, Ga. — Macon County’s election supervisor is one of five people arrested Tuesday and accused of federal health-care fraud.

An indictment in U.S. District Court in Macon says Tarshea Fudge-Riley and three other people created false documents saying they received mental-health therapy sessions from therapist Dawn James-Ellis.

Through her company; Therapy on the Go, James-Ellis allegedly submitted claims to several benefits programs for sessions that never happened.

The therapist allegedly paid Fudge-Riley and the other people for their help, the indictment says.
Court records don’t say how much money was involved.

All five were arrested Tuesday, according to federal court records. They were scheduled to appear before a federal magistrate Tuesday afternoon.

Fudge-Riley and the other four are charged with one count of conspiracy to commit health-care fraud. James-Ellis is also charged with identity theft.

13WMAZ called the Macon County elections office, but could not reach Fudge-Riley.

County manager Roselyn Starling said she had heard of Fudge-Riley’s arrest, but declined comment.
