Madison Alder Charles Myadze's defense says allegations against him are "provable false allegations" - WKOW

MADISON (WKOW) – On Thursday, Madison Alder Charles Myadze appeared in court on charges including strangulation and suffocation, attempted burglary, and battery. Myadze's defense argues that the evidence the state is using against him is flawed.

27 News spoke with Myadze's lawyer, Timothy Baldwin, after the hearing. He said he believes the information in the criminal complaint is irrelevant to Myadze's charges and that's why they filed a motion to have the trial moved. Baldwin argued that a fair trial cannot happen in Dane County.

The court denied their request to move venues.

Myadze is now facing seven felony charges for abuse that prosecutors say he committed between 2019 and 2021. In court, an eighth pending felony was dismissed.

In court, Baldwin pushed back further and said the criminal complaint was full of "provable false accusations."

"Your Honor, in the 25 years that I have practiced law, I have never seen a more salacious, inflammatory, incendiary document of a criminal complaint,” Baldwin told the court.

27 News followed up with Myadze's lawyer on his claim after the hearing.

“We have corroborated investigations of charges where there are allegations that certain wounds were created or inflicted by [Myadze], and then when it’s gone to be investigated, it didn’t even happen. So why is it in the complaint? All this information will impact the public,” Baldwin said.
