Martin’s Point Health Care Inc. of Portland, Maine, will pay $22,485,000 to resolve allegations that it violated the False Claims Act, according to the Justice Department on Monday.
The company allegedly submitted inaccurate diagnosis codes for its Medicare Advantage Plan enrollees to increase reimbursements from Medicare from 2016 to 2019, the agency said.
The codes submitted were allegedly not supported by the patients’ medical records, and their submission later resulted in higher payments from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, DOJ said.
