COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) - An attorney representing a man arrested following a weekend altercation at a Northgate bar is disputing the allegations outlined in a police report, stating his client acted in self-defense.
Harry James Dear, 27, was arrested Saturday night by College Station police at GoodBull Icehouse, located at 205 University Drive, and charged with assault causing bodily injury.
According to an arrest report, a patron told officers he was using a urinal next to Dear when he said, “Let’s go Kentucky,” following the Texas A&M–Kentucky football game.
The victim alleged Dear turned and began urinating on him, struck him in the back of the head as he tried to leave, and punched him repeatedly in the face until he fell to the ground.
Responding officers noted the victim had facial injuries and was bleeding from the mouth, while Dear had bloody knuckles, slurred speech, red eyes, and smelled strongly of alcohol. At the scene, Dear told police the man initiated the dispute over Texas A&M’s performance and threatened to hit him.
In a statement released by defense attorney Craig A. Greening of The Greening Law Group, Dear’s counsel strongly denied the accusations.
“Mr. Dear absolutely did not urinate on another individual. That claim is false,” Greening said, describing the allegations circulating online as sensationalized and inconsistent with physical evidence.
