Man sought by MACC in false claims case says he was not notified - New Straits Times

KUALA LUMPUR: A businessman who is being sought by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) claims he did not receive a notice from the agency for him to assist in investigations.

Datuk Justin Lim Hwa Tat said up to yesterday, he had not received a notice from MACC requiring him to turn up to record his statement under Section 30 of the MACC Act 2009.

Lim said MACC did not give any notice at his place of work or residence.

"I have never been approached by any MACC officer in relation to the investigation mentioned in the statement.

"Therefore, I would like to emphasise that MACC's statement stating that I am a wanted individual is inaccurate and has no basis. The statement gives a false impression as if I am avoiding or not cooperating with the authorities," he said today.

He also claimed that he had left the business since early February but remains committed to cooperating fully with the authorities.

"I have officially appointed Messrs. Gobind Singh Deo & Co to represent me during this investigation," he said.

MACC in a statement on July 12 said the Putrajaya MACC Division was tracking a man to assist in investigations into a false claims case.
