The Portuguese national, who was behind the Football Leaks revelations, says he could continue to provide information and documents to foreign authorities, but is making his cooperation conditional on receiving security guarantees. The possibility emerges just days after an independent Premier League commission found Manchester City responsible for more than 100 breaches of the competition’s financial rules.
Information disclosed by Rui Pinto played a role in investigations into Manchester City’s finances. The independent commission examining the case concluded that the club had used what it described as fictitious commercial contracts to inflate revenues by more than 900 million over several years.
Manchester City has rejected the allegations and announced that it will appeal the decision. The case could nevertheless lead to further developments if British authorities decide to deepen their investigation or examine additional documents connected to the Football Leaks revelations.
