Manchester United have denied suggestions of an attempted cover-up of the allegations that Red Devils Antony attacked his ex-girlfriend.

Antony is the subject of a police investigation after claims of domestic violence against his ex-girlfriend, influencer and DJ Gabriela Cavallin.

Cavallin accuses Antony of headbutting and punching her in a Manchester hotel room the day after Man United’s 2-1 victory over Manchester City on January 14 that resulted in a cut to her head and a breast implant being damaged.

After filling a complaint to Greater Manchester Police, the organisation released a statement saying: “Greater Manchester Police is aware of the allegations made and enquiries remain ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding this report.

"We will not be commenting any further at this time."

The forward insists he's innocent and the claims made against him are false in a statement released on Monday.

Man United put out a statement on Wednesday, which read: "Manchester United acknowledges the allegations made against Antony and notes that the Police are conducting enquiries.

"Pending further information, the club will be making no further comments.

"As a club, we are taking this matter seriously, with consideration of the impact of these allegations and subsequent reporting will have on survivors of abuse."
