Married couple nabbed for making false claims totalling RM90,000 - New Straits Times

JOHOR BARU: A married couple was arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) today for allegedly making false claims to a government department four years ago.

Sources said the suspects, aged 38 and 39, were arrested at the Johor MACC office at 11.30am today after they went to have their statements recorded.

It is understood that in 2019 and 2020, the female suspect, who is an officer at the department, conspired with her husband to make false claims totalling RM90,000.

The claims were for a service to ferry students to and from schools, made using an invoice from a van service company. The service was not implemented.

Johor MACC director Datuk Azmi Alias confirmed the arrests, saying that the case was being investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009.

The suspects were released on MACC bail.
