BOSTON —
The Massachusetts minimum wage will rise to $15 per hour beginning on Jan. 1 as part of a law passed in 2018.
Tipped employees will also get a service rate rise and will be paid $6.75 per hour from the beginning of next year.
The increase is part of a law that was passed in June 2018 that set the minimum wage to increase each year until it reaches $15 in 2023. This will be the last year of consecutive increases under the 2018 law.
The federal minimum wage, last increased in 2009, is $7.25.
