BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD (WBFF) — Changes are coming to Baltimore County Schools after a Fox45 News investigation found buses with broken parts were passing inspection and carrying students.
The changes include new bus inspection procedures, a new whistleblower protection policy and possibly even a new superintendent.
Project Baltimore first spoke with Brandy Martin and her son, Devin Beachy, in December, shortly after we broke the story that school buses with broken parts were passing inspection. To this day, Martin says she’s still having issues.
She says the last time her son rode the school bus was about a week after she spoke with Project Baltimore in December. Ever since, she’s been writing Baltimore County Public Schools transportation department with safety concerns about the buses. And ever since, she been getting little to no response.
“I get pissed off to the point I physically shake, and I become ill,” Martin told Project Baltimore. “I can't get them on the phone to answer the simplest questions about my child's safety in school.”
But Martin is hopeful the situation will improve following a report by the Maryland Department of Transportation that was recently sent to Baltimore County Schools.
“I believe it's a step in the right direction, but I believe there's more that can be done,” said Martin.
