Mednax Inc. successfully trimmed a proposed data breach class action but still faces some claims, after a federal judge in Florida ruled that three of the claims in the patients’ second amendment complaint fell flat.

Patients sued Mednax, Pediatrix, and American Anesthesiology in six different federal lawsuits which were later consolidated, accusing the neonatal and healthcare companies of acting negligently and violating state privacy laws.

The 2020 breach exposed their personally identifiable information and protected health information, including medical records, Social Security numbers, and health insurance information, the plaintiffs said.
