Many blogs might face legal action after spreading false claims about Megan Thee Stallion during the Tory Lanez firearm and assault case.
As a result of the claims, the Houston hottie has been criticized and blamed for being shot by the rapper, while others claim she was the aggressor.
It has been suggested in several articles that bloggers were partly to blame for Megan’s misogynistic and abusive attacks.
“It’s been very clear, as I’ve seen entertainment and gossip spaces commenting on the case, that she has been set up as someone who is out for herself, lying, and problematic in all these ways,” said Catherine Knight Steele, a communications professor at the University of Maryland. “This points to the way that mis- and disinformation, and misogynoir, are trafficked because of its profitability, even in the Black community. It’s profitable for these sites to traffic in the most vile stereotypes about Black women.”
Megan’s attorney, Alex Spiro, stated they are “exploring all legal options” to clear up rumors regarding the shooting case as Lanez’s assault trial ends.
According to Spiro, action could be taken against bloggers who deliberately spread misinformation about the trial to portray Megan as the wrongdoer.
In May, Milagro Gramz, a blogger who has covered Lanez’s assault case, shared an LAPD report in which a doctor “confirmed” that Megan’s foot injuries were “due to stepping on glass,” NBC reported.
