Investigators say Dr. Mark Shermer was falsely billing Medicare for end-stage renal disease (ESRD) treatments for dialysis patients despite never performing the treatment.
The Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General and Tennessee Bureau of Investigation investigated these claims and found Shermer liable to pay the money back.
Shermer was ordered to pay $375,296.90 to resolve the case under the False Claims Act.
